Getting ready for Christmas is so fun! We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Day, but it actually starts much sooner than that. Putting up the tree, decorating the house, daily Bible reading, singing Hymns at home and church, always striving to keep things simple. During advent we do the same things year after year, we cement them into our children’s storage banks of memory. Every Christmas brings more memories, and it’s the days before and after Christmas that hold many, many special memories. It makes your family special, unique, your children will hold these memories long after they are grown. Let us all try to stay focused on Christ, put Him in the center of our celebrating.

I love snowmen!

I also love candles.

Usually covered in white lights, we let Ben pick the color this year and he wanted colored lights.

The girls practicing Christmas Carols!

We put fresh garland on the mantle every year.

Ben giving Grant a ride on his shoulders!

Our Church.

Practicing for our Christmas program.

I just love to watch them practice!

Going over some songs.
Hope you have a blessed time with your loved ones preparing for Christmas.
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name “Jesus”. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Luke 1:31-33

And I am the first on here….=)
I like the Christmas tree, colored lights and all. Grant looks super cute.
Love ya.
Beautiful…I love preparing, once I get my heart around it! I have the same clock you do! I was hoping to be all prepared by now, including doing our family photo but nope…didn’t happen. At least there’s still time. And I really super feel the need to simplify even more than we ever have. All the rush and commercialism stresses me out. And I’m crying at EVerything! By the way, I would SO love to hear the girls sing!
I got sick the week after Thanksgiving and was in bed for 8 days. I’m WAAAAAAAAY behind. I, too, am striving to keep things simple – more out of necessity this year than ever before! I have 3 young girls at home and I agree about the memories being made! It’s wonderful for the oldest daughter to come home and tell the young ones that Mom has always done “such and such” the same way! I think I can smell your greenery – it looks (and smells) wonderful!
@Richgem - We still have not done our family picture yet either!! I am trying NOT to get stressed out this Christmas season. I think being prepared is the key, I try
to make a list every day and get it done so I do not fall behind and I cut down on the decorating (made it a little more simple) so I don’t get that cluttery feeling.
Trying to choose JOY (not stress)
(((HUGS))) to you! p.s.- I’ll try to post a video of the girls singing.
@cherylyn_p - I’m sorry to hear you were sick for so long!! Whenever I fall behind I recruit the girls to help me catch up. Enjoy preparing with your girls, I miss the years when my girls were really young! I have three girls still at home, the youngest is 19 now. My boys at home are 16, 12 (he will turn 13 next week) ,and 11.
I’ve been telling my youngest for years to stop growing and stay little “ just for me”…but he isn’t obeying
.
Blessings, Karen
