Last Friday was so nice out, we decided to go to Lake Geneva

It’s the little touches that make a house, a home. I love my ”farmhouse” kitchen, because it reflects our family.It speaks volumes about us. We love to cook, and almost everything that is displayed in our kitchen has a purpose it’s not just for decoration, we actually use it. Most of the day this is where we are at, either doing schoolwork, cooking, playing games, entertaining, etc… 

The wood cookstove heats our entire house all winter! We have hot water heat with a boiler in the basement, but we only turn it on when we are not going to be home for an extended length of time, (or when our woodchoppers get behind!!). At night when the fire gets low or goes out, it can start to get chilly upstairs, so in the morning all the kids are huddled around the stove when I am making breakfast. The wookstove is a natural convection oven, so bread, rolls, and cookies turn out wonderful. If the kitchen is the heart of the home, our cookstove is the heart of the kitchen.: )

Like the old mail motto: “Come rain, snow, sleet or hail”, Jake and Gianna do barn chores faithfully every morning and evening.

Why is it that Shelby can’t just eat her breakfast, she has to spread it all over the place? I guess it isn’t just toddlers who like to play with their food!!!

Friday is pizza night at the Savino home!

You have heard of homeschooling, Ben is treeschooling!!! We have
been homeschooling since the eighty’s, and we wouldn’t have changed
a thing. It has made our family so close to have spent so much time together,
what a blessing!

A few weeks ago we went to the Smoky Mountains!

This was our cabin!

The Kitchen! If you notice there are only two bananas on the counter. We had a ton of bananas and they weren’t being eaten fast enough! At every meal you were offered at least twice to have a banana. In the van, if you asked for a snack, you were offered a banana first! We love bananas, but these turned brown way too fast (hence the reason we didn’t jump to eat them!).

Then it was off to the Creation Museum! You’d think, that with all of the cameras we had, at least one of us would get a picture of the building…but no. No one even thought to take a picture. So the camel is the opening picture for the museum.

We made gnocchi for Thanksgiving!!! Liz came over to help. Gnocchi are an Italian favorite! We’ve had gnocchi every Thanksgiving for as long as I can remember.
